Mr. Gore’s house uses 20 times (at least) what the average home uses, so he says he’s installing solar panels. So let’s look at that. Using energy creates pollution, right? Isn’t that the goal, use less energy? So we install solar (photovoltaic) panels.
But…it takes more kilowatt-hours of electricity to produce a solar panel than they will return in energy output in their lifetime, so you waste energy every time you buy one.
Hell, don’t believe me, research it yourself.
Solar panels are great where there is no other power available, but putting them on a house that can buy electricity for 8 cents per hwh is just stupid, and is done to convince the ignorant that we are doing "our part" to solve the "problem", when actually the problem is made worse.
Be a Democrat if you want. But be an informed Democrat, and put your huckster spokesman in line.
His whole argument on global warming is a joke. As soon as they included buying carbon credits to offset energy use, I knew it was a fraud. We all want to be energy independent, that is what we should be working on, not making up ways to collect money. Alternative energy and reducing pollution is a good cause, but don’t use fear and control to get your way.
3 Examples of how solar energy is used.
Solar energy is used as follows:
It heats and lights the earth, without it we would all die on a very cold rock with no plant life.
Photo voltaic cells can collect solar energy and produce an electric current.
Solar collectors, usually roof mounted, are used domestically to heat water in homes.
Some desert areas use an array of mirrors to heat water in a central tower to produce steam to turn a generator and produce electricity.
Hi Everyone!
I have three different questions to ask you all.
I am doing an experiment on Solar Panels.
So the first question i have to you is whether heat is a factor that plays a part in the amount of power a solar panel can produce?
The second question is why is it that when i connect the solar panel to a load, the voltage drops drastically. Like from 19.66 drop to 13.45. Is there an explanation for this?
The last question i have for you all is why does a solar panel produce more energy when it is tilted towards the sun then when it is laying on the floor flat.
Please remember to answer all the questions if you can. Thank You.
Sorry, i should make my question clearer.
What i meant to say was that when i connect the solar panel in an open circuit (meaning measure the voltage by just connecting the voltmeter to the solar panel). The resulting voltage is much higher than the resulting voltage when i connect it in a close loop (measure voltage and current, where a rheostat, voltmeter, ammeter and solar panel is connected to each other).
So i want to know why there is a difference in the voltages.
Dear friend first up all the solar Panel is not directly connected with the heat it absorbs from sun. It is the ultra violet rays produces the electricity. I am having three panels of different size in my house. These Panel capacity is given by its watts and volt. The product of volt X amps is equal to watts. Even during raining without affecting the light I get solar energy.
1.Heat is not the factor. It is the ultra violet rays produces the electricity.
2. Normally at no load the voltage will be higher than what they have mentioned. The voltage will be correct only when you connect the Panel into its proper capacity load.
3.Tilting effect absorbs more ultra violet rays.
is it possible for a refrigerator to be powered by solar energy?
if possible, how big would the panel be or how much solar energy would it require?
can someone please give me info on how much energy would need to power how big of a refrigerator?
thanks alot!
Refrigerators run intermittently, so the peak power and average power differ significantly. Read the data plate on the refrigerator to see how much power it requires; typically, it will be a few hundred watts. As for solar cells, they go for about $10 a watt, so a solar plant capable of running your refrigerator will cost several thousand dollars. A solar plant will produce a maximum of 2 kWh of electricity per year per watt of installed capacity, which has a market value of about 25 cents; unless you can get a huge subsidy (which sometimes you can), you would do better leaving your money in the bank and just paying the power company.
It’s supposed to make you lose weight, but I want to know if it has worked on anybody else before I buy it.
Yep, in fact I had some today! I got the free trial from http://myultragreentea.com and it’s been really great so far in helping me up my energy levels and metabolism. Combined with exercise every once in a while, it’s really making a dent in my weight problem!
someone tell me were i can buy parts for circuit boards like ones used in Digital Electronics at high school, im looking for a solar panel one that can make like 9 volts
All Electronics Corp is a supplier of surplus electronic and mechanical parts.
You can wire individual Solar cells into nearly any voltage you need. A single solar cell typically produces about 1/2 volt. The prefab panels have just connected a number of cells in series to obtain the higher voltages.
Does the solar energy hit the solar panels and creates electricity.. or what ?
Where can you put solar panels ?
There are now thousands of happy Earth4Energy members worldwide who are saving money every time the sun rises and every time the wind blows! Check out this site:

Does it give free rides?
It is humongous and no free rides although that is what he advertises free ride plus tax
i have a 12 volt solar panel charging system and would like to attempt to make a wind generator from available parts, need some advice?????
Have a look at my project. Several links for pictures, wiring, charge controller, and so on.

I want to know how I can determine my area’s (Rochester NY) yearly solar energy output to see if it would make economic sense to install solar panels. Any websites or resources where I can look?
If you are looking for the cheapest electrical power available solar panels are not going to be what you want.
Roughly solar panels will supply electrical power costing about 3-10 times more than what you can purchase from your local electrical company when averaged over the 20-25 year life of any solar panels.
Go look at how much you spend for your electricity in a single year. Then go look at how many solar panels you can purchase for this amount of cash (In my case I spend about $1000 each year for power).
This means that economic "sense" must be tempered with some other desire for the solar panels.
I came accross a new, proven and tested home made wind power system and solar power system which eliminates our electricity bills. It was written by a Renewable energy enthusiasts Michael Harvey the diy called Earth4energy. You can get your copy to save energy and help environment while eliminating your power bills.
