Little has been done or is in the works. Are greenies actually realizing that there is no ready replacement for fossil fuels? Or at least nothing that the average person can affordably use. I suppose cars with a nuclear reactor could give performance as good as gas or diesel but it would cost a few million per car. Electric and hybrid cars are an expensive joke. You may as well shut off your electricity and get a horse and buggy.
Are you suggesting that Democrat Obama lied during his campaign or he’s just incompetent and not doing anything he stated he was going to do. We were supposed to be out of Afganistan by now, out of Iraq by now, the economy was supposed to be fixed by now and he’s made it significantly worse, we are supposed to be switching to green fuel and we’re not, all of the countries are supposed to love us because Democrat Obama would talk to them, Iran is supposed to stop their nuclear weapons production instead of significantly increasing it as it’s been proven they are, Guantanimo Bay was supposed to be close and terrorists put on American soil, etc., etc., etc.
Wake up to reality: Due to Democrat Obama we’ve had our first Terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11, our economy is in far worse shape due to his spending policies, we’re increasing the number of troops we have in Afganistan though not at the minimum level needed to actually protect, help and win the war, just at a level where we will loose and are far more likely to suffer longer and greater casualties. The Generals stated they needed 80,000 troops though at an absolute minimum 40,000 to do anything properly. Democrat Obama gave them 30,000 that will prolong the war without giving us enough strength to win. I could go on and on though it’s clear Democrat Obama lied to everyone and that shouldn’t be a surprise. Anyone that can think past a sound byte know his policies don’t work and should never have been suggested.

As always, it is just talk. Think of the backlash if they were to ban cars that run off of gasoline. That would be taking keys out of the hands of millions of people who can’t afford some three-wheeled electric car.

So called "green"energy has a cost of 5 to 10 times the cost of fossil fuel or Nuclear Power.
If we cannot afford fossil fuel gasoline at a cost of $5 or $6 per gallon, we cannot afford "green" energy at a cost of $15 or $20 per gallon of gasoline gallon equivalent.
Currently, so called "green" energy that is affordable to the rest of us as oppposed to the wealthy Radical Leftist "elites" (and I use the term "elites" very looslely), is little more than a pipe dream.

I look at T. Boone Pickens, hardly a greenie. His plan was to put windmills in the TX panhandle. Then, the reality that there was a lack of infrastructure to deliver the power and that building said infrastructure was cost-prohibitive.
I’d sure like to know how we’re going to handle all that mercury in the compact fluorescent lightbulbs being rammed down throats.

I have researched bio-diesel that turns waste oil into diesel that can be used in diesel engines with no modifications.
The use of straight vegetable oil, that needs special heating to keep it thin enough not to clog up.
Bio-Diesel gives 3.2 energy units for every energy unit to make it. Where ethanol uses more energy to make then it gives off.
And there is over 300 windmills within 50 miles of my home. Each windmill can electrically power 550 homes. I worked on them for 2 1/2 months and they paid good jobs for many thousands of workers. Plus their location by a nuclear power (LaSalle Station) that has cooling lakes that are hot. The lakes hit a 100 degress or better in the summer and 80 in the winter. This generates very lot of wind for the tempratue difference powering the windmills.

The Prius getting 50 m.p.g. is no joke and it is proven technology that has made Ford and G.M. make similar cars.
Turning waste oil into bio-diesel can be done for 70 cents a gallon. And many states are trying to tax it as fuel, so there is very many in the U.S. making it or the states would not look for revenue. And many powerblock t.v. shows had diesels burning bio-diesel with no problems.
As for the electric cars the battery technology has gone far enough. Lithium Ion is to expensive now. The car makers are trying to make electric cars closer in price to non-electric.
The future has already begun. And if researched it you would welcome it.
Seems that a few months ago conservatives were critiquing Obama for putting to much on his plate. Then they turn around and claim he hasn’t done anything. If he hasn’t done anything why would you conservatives want him to take on more. Seems a little hypocritical.

How Will Peak Oil Affect World Gas Demand?
Peak oil is a major concern for the energy industry. At some point oil will reach the maximum rate of global extraction, thereafter, oil production will decline until the global reserves are extinguished.
The debate continues as energy experts argue when peak oil will occur or indeed if it has already past. The latest indications from the Association for the Study of Peak Oil (ASPO) would seem to suggest that peak oil has come and gone, in which case the global demand for alternative accessible fuel sources - namely coal and gas - could be set to rise dramatically in the coming years.
The first ASPO conference was held in 2005 and attitudes to peak oil have changed considerably in the four years since. The prediction of a peak output of 100 million barrels of oil per day never materialised, falling short at a fairly consistent level of 74 million barrels per day. The cost of oil production rocketed as marginal sources became economically unviable to extract and OPEC production dipped below expectations.
In the current climate, oil producers are reporting production depletion rates of around 5 per cent, which are expected to increase to 6.5 per cent by 2014. If these predictions are correct, each year global production will sink by around 4 million barrels per day, the equivalent of the entire annual oil production of the North Sea.
The shortfall will need to be made up somehow and natural gas seems the most likely immediate solution. In the long-term, renewable energy sources may cater to some of the demand but in reality natural gas is the best option to satisfy world demand. North American supplies of shale gas have hit a glut which can expand to take up the slack left by a lack of oil. New discoveries of gas found in Australasia are also expected to come online in the next three to five years.
Peak oil may well have come sooner than anticipated but natural gas is a suitable intermediary alternative. As the cleanest burning of the fossil fuels, gas is also the most environmentally friendly solution until a concerted effort can be made to use renewable energy sources to cut carbon emissions.
